Covered Wagons
3
The pioneers called their Covered Wagons prairie schooners because their billowing tops reminded them of sailing ships. This wagon was given to the Old West Museum as a lasting legacy project to commemorate the Wyoming Centennial, which was celebrated in 1990. It was a combined community effort. Riding in the wagon are members of the Women’s Civic League who originated the idea.
