Shriners

The Korein Shriners have been participating in CFD parades since 1926. As you can see their banner says, “It’s All About the Kids!” Getting disabled kids exceptional care and treatment, at no cost, is our mission.

The Shriners support 22 children’s hospitals in 3 countries. These hospitals provide free care to children in need of orthopedic and burn assistance along with free transportation, food, and lodging for the child and their parents.

There are 3 elements here: our traditional Fez Float, the Korein Clowns, and the 307 Drifters, the only drift trikes in Wyoming!

The Fez Float includes the flags of multiple countries with Shrine Temples, the flags of all 6 U.S. military services and organizational flags. The Fez has been on display or parading since 1983. It’s been as far west as Las Vegas, north to Butte, Montana, east to Omaha, Nebraska and our southern line will be moving when it travels to Frisk, Texas!

The Clowns and their Caliope are the oldest Shrine unit in Cheyenne. The Caliope you see here was in the first group to parade for CFD in 1926. The Clowns are probably the best known of all Shrine Groups.

The 307 Drifters are the newest unit we have. These Drift trikes are custom made to each rider. They have a 9.5 hp engine and can do about 35 mph. A slight touch of the throttle will send one into a spin up to 360 degrees or let it run sideways down the road.
